Author Topic: Should I be able to use electronics if I want?  (Read 2452 times)

tell them that they can only get proof by letting you use them for a little while, and that if you're irresponsible they can take it right back

I have one solution, but you may hate it. You could tell your parents to put Parental Controls on your PC if you tell them how

Well when I tell them, they just start getting mad and especially my dad who fumes flames when he hears me. I tried to tell him if I could use it for a while and if I screw up, no more but instead he talks about some "rules" that don't even exist. "Rules are Rules!" he says.

That was in middle school. I am really pushing myself this year and trying to better myself by attempting to keep myself organized and such.

My grades are pretty decent like at C's and B's but sometimes, I'll have a class im struggling in that'll get me a d or something.

I'm confused here, this is written as if they are your current grades yet they are the past? You need to work on your tenses.

The rule is no other technology.

judging by you, your grades are garbage, Cs and Bs are pretty bad. you dont deserve electronics. for grandma

IMO, you should lay off the Internet for a while.

more distractions aren't going to help you if you're getting bad grades

IMO, you should get better grades. C's and D's mean you only got 70% - 90% of what the subjects were teaching.

that would be A-C speaking from 90% to 70%

i 100% always find the idea that technology is primarily a distraction ridiculous and that's my main problem with this kind of thing

Here's my conclusion: you're either lying about your age or have a legitimate developmental disorder. At least if it's the latter, there's no shame in it.

I'll just be straight: sixteen year olds don't speak like you do. The tone you use is roughly the same tone that people twelve and under use. So that leaves only two possibilities: you're a normal preteen, or you're a sixteen year old who is behind on the developmental curve.

So this gives two alternative conclusions:
  A) You're a preteen and your parents are trying to facilitate your development. This is normal parenting behavior, and it's normal child behavior to resent it.
  B) Your parents are trying to provide the additional structure a teenager with a developmental disorder needs to make the best of themselves. This is normal parenting behavior, and it's normal to resent it.

In the off chance that you are the average 16 year old who just happens to have an immature online persona, you should talk to your parents about how in less than two years you're going to be a fully grown adult.
