Author Topic: New anti-smoking campaign reveals that cigarettes really DO cause cancer  (Read 4810 times)

Cancer is not the only thing smoking can cause, although it's probably one of the worst things due to treatment being ~95% unsuccessful.

yes
you are attempting to murder everyone via second hand smoke
people who smoke know this, but they do not care.
Lol? It's not murdering but it is called being inconsiderate as forget to smoke in public

it's definitely not murder, you're going way over the edge if you think that, though second-hand smoke still greatly increases your chance of getting some of the same diseases and illnesses that smokers face, which I'd say counts as a public safety risk. That's why it's banned in restaurants and other places where there are lots of people in a relatively small space, so you aren't exposing dozens of people to secondhand smoke. I doubt it's going to be banned in big open places like outside of buildings, but it's a possibility.

It's just as bad if not worse
You don't inhale cigar smoke
You absorb a small amount of nicotine through your gums, so yeah gum disease could be a problem with consistent use.

I saw this on TV last night and then went to bed

It's not the nicotine that causes gum disease though, rather the roostertail of chemicals that is smoke in general

Yeah there's no question that smoke is bad for you. But as long as you aren't inhaling cigars, and you use them in moderation, you should be fine.

i looked at the thumbnail and immediately died

Tobacco smoke causes mouth cancer too. Keeping it in your mouth is no safer than inhaling it into your lungs.

Smokers receive more radiation exposure than astronauts and nuclear power plant workers.  So, unsurprising.

So keeping it in your mouth is just as bad as keeping it in your mouth AND your lungs? I'm not sure I see the logic there.
