Someones phone is going off during class. Most sensible solution is to send them to the headteacher's office where they can sit and wait and not get the needed education at all and then forget off at the end of the day!

even if its completely off and inanimate, a substitute looked at my jeans for some reason and saw the shape of my phone in my pocket and asked for me to empty them

I'm not in high school anymore so most of my stories come from work now. They include things like the autistic (not a joke, reasonable assumption) old man who threw a fit when I didn't let him use three coupons, the tiny man who chased his overweight bratty son into the parking lot, and the old dirty guy who tried to publicly joke with me about child research.

You know, all those normal things.

In (most) schools here, they don't give a stuff if you use your phone in class as long as you do not disturb others, use it to make a call, and/or have it with the sounds on.
