Author Topic: Has hosting changed in the last year or so?  (Read 1410 times)

Haven't been able to host (due to my ports), however I haven't been on for a year or so, just wondering if an update changed the way blockland uses ports?

did you change isps since then?

No, the weird thing is that nothing has changed, not even my router name.

I'm having the same problem.

your computer's local IP address most likely changed. you'll have to update it in your router's port forward settings in order to be able to host again
to get your local IP address on windows you have to do the ipconfig stuff in the command line. i would say how to do it but i'm on my phone and it would probably take 15 eons for me to type up a tutorial. you can find tutorials on this stuff at portforward.com

Last time I tried to port forward the internet just stopped working :l

he probably forgeted up his local static ip
Yeah its that thing when it says you're connected but you don't get any internets. I don't know enough about port forwarding/internet to understand what I did wrong.

what you did was you set your local IP address to one that was already in use, and the router just rejected you because it can't handle 2 local ip addresses that are exactly the same

You'll probably want to pick one outside of your router's DCHP range, or at least not near the start of it.
A range is typically (not always) .100-.199. Something like 140 should be fine.
