Kinda looks more like the tail of a fuzzy dragon or something along those lines to me than a crispy tempura shrimp thing! I'd recommend more rigid, defined lines and shading to get a fried texture, although I haven't actually tried to draw food all that much so I can't really say.

Going with the Japanese theme here :cookieMonster:

Still life is an excellent starting point

I also see that you chose the default isometric view, a nice starting point for perspective

As you start to get more comfortable, it's better to use less strokes in order to make the line-art cleaner, like you did more on the second

The shading on the first could be smoother on the bottom of the plate and it's really good that you remembered to use reflected light on the shrimp

Concerning the shadows, be sure you stick to one light-source, because the sushi is getting it from the front top left while the dish is getting it from the top left

Final notes: to make the dish seem shallower, use softer strokes to emphasize a curved slope. Most importantly, when shading, try doing so in the direction of the contour. (That is, shading along the outline instead of just going left to right/up and down

Keep it up and you'll be part camera ;)

uuuuugh

now I have to go sob for 30 minutes
don't ever compare anything good to cube world again

the developer left cube world for dead

the last thing we heard from him was that he was "working on it" but hasn't released anything in forever

this unfortunately

it had so much promise, too

More people would play racing games if dragons poped out of the tire stacks.

The tire stack should match the plane of the top of the oil jug, you can do this by starting off with a rectangular prism and then drawing the circles in at the top, this way, it will appear to be level with everything else. The clipboard could be rotated to the left to make it appear like it's leaning more

I'll  soon do something better with this.

It's too simple for my taste.
