It's a multi-billion dollar company and business. The security and activity of the userbase is more important than anything. If you're using an outdated and obsolete operating system (Win7) and/or something generally defined by everyone as bad (Win8), Microsoft is fixing the solution to that problem.

There are no morals involved here. You signed the liscence to use Windows. You don't own it; microsoft doesnt need your permission or questions to update to the most recent version.

If you're rustled enough switch to Linux or OS X. They cant effect someone out of their userbase.
