Author Topic: Door? switches?  (Read 2209 times)

Ok i just got the free version of the & i haven't seen this game in forever. And i was disappointed to learn i couldn't make objects move like in the last one. Is it still as simple? or does it now need coding? This is going to be the main reason i would buy Blockland. so please reply :)

With the new brick system there are no longer movers as you may have known them, but someone has made a door mod that allows you to spawn doors, Space Guy's event mod can also be used for escalator type movers. An elevator mod is also under construction. So although we dont have the old system, many mods are being made to make up for it. V9 will also include an event system to add more interaction to the game.

But its for a good cause-- blockland can support MANY more bricks than its predecessor with its new brick system.

Thank you very much it is a shame though that was a real bummer for me, so you are saying they are going to add it with their new version? Cause that would be great :). and do you know if it is going to be as easy as the first one? or I need to know coding of some sort?

No, there will NEVER be moving in retail blockland. With its current brick system there is very low lag but it completely destroys any chance of having any kind of moving bricks. Ever. It will NEVER happen with serious modification that im sure badspot will not do.

I understand that it has less lag. but last version NEVER lagged for me & also it takes some of the creativity and interactivity out of the game that it originaly had

Actually it increases the amount of creativity because it makes the player learn to create interesting creations with only basic bricks.

I was basically saying that although its no longer there, we have mods that make up for it.

by getting rid of some things limits it not increases it

Depends why you get rid of it. You completely ignore the fact that blockland can support about 5 times as many bricks without even starting to lag now.

Also the lights and particle system really add to those special effects that were not possible with the beta.

Movers are still possible to script. Nobody's made them yet, because they were pretty abused in the previous versions. Additionally, there are no floating bricks or build-through bricks. The game has basically gone a lot more 'lego'-y, away from the magical stretch-the-blocks game called Vanilla Blockland.

Oh, and yeah, there's no Editor Wand, either.

Floating and build through bricks could be implemented.( when I was messing with farming for my rpg I was able to make overlapping and floating bricks with the farms)

I once had a very, very basic mover system controlled through the console which deleted and recreated bricks in different positions - it broke if you moved the brick to a place where you weren't trusted or it was left floating, but it made a working 'moving brick'.

Easily possible, highly bugged. You can't hammer anything on a floating build, for example. Everything would fall apart.

Ok, Starcraftman your avatar is FAIL...Lolz. Easiest way to make floating bricks is to make your build on a map like bedroom and then load them into a map like slate...depends on the map but loading slate bricks onto kitchen map is hard to find. :(
