remember guys, it's in megabits (1/8 of a megabyte), not megabytes

you can change it to megabytes in your user settings

Versizon fios is nice.

This is without the quantum thingy, too.
I'm sure if my parents I was willing to pay for it the speeds would be even faster.

I feel stuffty, and stuffty, and gay.

you cant make an internet thread without absolutely everyone posting their speedtest lmfao

<converting to megabytes>

Every thread about speed, there's someone who's gotta say this. Why? Mbps is kinda the standard unit for speed, all you accomplish when you convert it to MBps is confuse the people who don't know which abbreviation means what, and every thread there's at least one person using the wrong abbreviation for what they want.

Anyways, on topic, I haven't had a bandwidth cap since I switched from dial-up. And I think my limit on dial-up was a limit on how many hours I could be connected

I actually have a few friends on ISP's that still have bandwidth caps that live around me. I had verizon myself up until last summer when I finally was 18 and could switch ISP's myself.

Even better because this is the only bill I pay right now. Time warner isn't nearly as bad as people put them out to be when it comes to internet.

I think just because they're thinking in terms of file-sizes. It's easier to imagine MBps because you can look at a file on your computer, see that it's 10MB, and then know that if you had 2MBps download it would take you 5 seconds to download that file.

It's confusing for other people of course to come in and start converting peoples Mb to MB though, since we typically use Mbps for speed.

But if there was a choice on what the standard terminology was for internet speeds, from speed tests and ISPs, I'd rather it was MBps.
It's like comparing how many oranges you have, but one person is counting in whole oranges and the other is counting in orange segments.

What if you have a rotten orange with a segment that is usable??????
