Author Topic: Shot my first deer  (Read 3549 times)

I shot my first deer this morning with a compound bow. It is a button buck, but I thought it was just a doe at first. It's a lil one, but the venison will be tender. Gotta feed the family. Anyone else hunt?

I stab bucks with a balisong

hunting is what future serial killers partake in

the murder of innocent animals shall not go unnoticed by me

I don't disagree with it, but I don't know that I could do it.

But I am more than happy to dine on it.

I don't think I could ever kill an animal and enjoy it so nope, I don't hunt

It's not about the sport or trophy. It's about filling the freezer with good meat. Personally, I like venison jerky. I'd like to try and make venison chili.

But I am more than happy to dine on it.
I'm hoping it tastes like steak. Does it?

I'm not really sure.
I've not had much venison in my life. Only a little bit, and as sausages or burgers, so they're usually not 100% venison.
And like Beef, it probably changes slightly depending on what you do with it. Like mince beef tastes different to steak.

It's also quite hard to describe different meats to other people who've never tried them before.
Like, how do you compare the flavour of Pork with the flavour of Beef, without describing it as Beefy or Porky?

That said, Alpaca is kind of similar to lamb and beef, but still its own meat.
And Kangaroo is difficult to describe, at least the burger I had was. It tastes of meat, but not like other meats I had. That's the best I can do in describing it, lol.

i hide in the leaves with a dull dinner knife and when a deer walks over me i spring my trap and rip its esophagus out

kangaroo jerky is best jerky

I can kind of imagine that. Does it bring out the flavour more, like Beef jerky does?

Also, I need to eat an Asian animal, an African animal, a North American animal and I suppose an Antarctic animal, and I've tried an animal endemic to every continent (I'm cheating and classing pig/cow/sheep/rabbit as European).
I'm thinking Bison, Yak, Ostrich and I suppose Penguin.

well I fleabombed a few rooms when i was younger  B)

I shot an opossum a couple days ago. It and our dog was fighting so I went to investigate. Found the opossum hunched down and it started hissing at me after I tried to shoo it away, which is why I shot it.
EDIT: I used a .22 caliber cause that's all I had to use :c

Anyway, good job on the deer!
