it's a screenshot and uploading platform, allows you to do a bunch of fancy stuff like record gifs, take screenshots, upload files and images to your favorite website, shorten links, upload big amounts of text (to pastebin or something), edit images, etc

basically puush + lightshot combined

Why release on Steam?
Releasing ShareX on Steam will allow us to earn a lot more users. If you worked on one project for last 8 years then generally as a developer you will want more people to use your software. So Steam is a good way to advertise and expand our userbase. Also having a lot more people using ShareX allows us to receive a lot more user feedback on how we can make the ShareX experience better.

And let's you upload to whatever site you want, instead of being restricted to one like the others do

Steam doesn't really seem like the right platform for software that's meant to be left running all the time. Unless steam added something else to sort that?

Yeah, I'm confused about this. Will it show me as in-game in sharex (and unable to open other games) as long as I have sharex open? because I don't want that. I want to have it open all the time.

yea steam supports software now it has a whole different section and they announced it as a big thing a long time ago i have no idea why people are still clueless its been around for a long time

It doesn't show "In-App" by default, however when launching from Steam it only says it for a second and then goes back to the "Online" status.

If you do choose to enable the option, you can find it in Application Settings -> Integration

Edit: If you want to post a review, I would suggest enabling the option for five minutes, then disabling it.

And I've known about the software section since it was released. What I'm saying is that launching through steam seems more suited to something you would launch, use actively, then close, whereas sharex just runs in the background all the time.

But can it be configured to start with Windows, or would you have to manually launch it every time?

But can it be configured to start with Windows
Yes. It's also in Application Settings -> Integration.

Edit: Forgot to mention when you first start it you'll be greeted with a window that allows you to change the integration settings.

DLC is literally the worst way to have donations I've ever seen

Not really. It's just provided as an option so you can pay with your steam wallet. You can donate from their site for any amount you want.

I still don't really get why. it seems pretty inconvenient to have something like this run through steam
DLC is literally the worst way to have donations I've ever seen
why? it's not notably different from any other way of doing it
