Author Topic: What to do next with my computer?  (Read 981 times)

Current PC Specs:

There's two things I want to do with my computer:
Replace the PSU
Get new graphics card

Currently I'm looking at this: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EVGA-GeForce-GTX-960-FTW-ACX-2-0-graphics-card-GF-GTX-690-2-GB-/131618133029
If anyone knows a cheaper version with the same power or higher, post.
If anyone thinks this may not work with my current build, post.

For the PSU, I'm not sure. If anyone knows stuff about stuff and could get me a PSU that works at a low price that is compatible with my current build with new GPU, that'l be great
I need to replace the PSU because I think my current one doesn't have enough power to be able to handle everything in my computer, it frequently reboots due to power surges.
That could also be because of heat, but I recently got a new fan and it has improved, yet the computer still reboots occasionally.

What PSU do you currently have?

EDIT: Misunderstood question

PSU, I would say go ~600w

VIdeo card looks fine, my brother recently got the 960 and has nothing but love for it.

Also does it reboot because of PSU or because the CPU is overheating?

upgrade your GPU and change to intel
your ram is also an incredibly low clock you should upgrade that
960 is a good card but i wouldn't but from ebay
i would recommend a 500 watt for this system but im not really that good with calculating the cheapest and exact need
i just threw a 1000 watt in my main build because i didnt want to deal with upgrading it all the time
corsair and rosewill make great power supplies

Light it on fire and stuff on it.

emulate a computer that emulates a computer in the emulation while emulating a computer

emulate a computer that emulates a computer in the emulation while emulating a computer
then emulate jacking off and leaving

give it to me
k
What PSU do you currently have?
How would I check? Do I just have to check the labels?
your ram is also an incredibly low clock you should upgrade that
wow really? I thought it wasn't too bad
upgrade your GPU and change to intel
do you mean cpu? in that case I recently upgraded and it seems to be fine
I'l try this a bit longer and if it's still sluggish I may consider
Light it on fire and stuff on it.
Already tried that, the motherboard shouted at me and told me to check my privileges
emulate a computer that emulates a computer in the emulation while emulating a computer
my mind has been sucessfully forgeted.

kHow would I check? Do I just have to check the labels?
Yeah

Also, your RAM isn't that bad... It says 669, but really it's most likely 1333 mhz RAM. http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-2556005/installed-1600-mhz-ram-dram-frequency-shows-669-mhz.html

no i meant upgrade your gpu but you already have plans for that
my ram is dual channel 2400 and yours is a single channel at 669

unless what George says is true 1333 is fine

On the back of the PSU it says 'AC 230V 50Hz'
there's nothing else on it, maybe I'l have to look further into the case

unless what George says is true 1333 is fine
How would I find out?

yeah full specs are usually on the side of the psu which is inside the case

as far as that ram thing goes maybe check the bios?
