Author Topic: Graphics card DOA?  (Read 723 times)

Ok guys so I recently just built my PC, and I noticed that when I tried powering it on with a screwdriver, it wouldn't start. So I tested the PC with just motherboard, RAM, CPU, and the cooler, and it started just fine. So then I started the graphics card (Asus STRIX R9 285) without the 2 6pin connectors, the PC started fine (of course no display) So then I plugged 1 6pin into a slot on the GPU, and it wouldn't start. I plugged it into the other 6pin slot on the GPU, and the PC started fine. I also tried other 6pin cables in the faulty slot, wouldn't power on. Also, my PSU is plenty powerful for my components. So I have a DOA graphics card, do I contact the manufacturer, or the vendor? (NCIXUS)

Contact the vendor first

sounds like the psu is shorting out when its on the gpu, try a different psu and if it wont boot still the gpu is doa
