Author Topic: is my hard drive failing? (don't know what the forget is going on)  (Read 1168 times)

this is the second time i've logged onto steam to play a game, and it has mysteriously uninstalled itself. first was garry's mod a week ago, and today it was team fortress 2. when i go to my steamapps folder, tf2 is there with all of the files. really confused here

sounds like a steam issue if the files are still there

I HIGHLY doubt your HDD is failing. If you're HDD was failing, you'd know it when it happens.

it's the only thing i can think of, i've never heard of this happening before.

can you hear it at all?
is it making any clicking or grinding noises?

should be fine then idk whats wrong with steam

it pisses me off because my internet is complete garbage, and i can't waste time downloading huge games at 115 kb/s

right click on a game in your library, click "properties," click "local files," and click "verify integrity of game cache"

right. idk what I expected if steam thinks it's uninstalled

go to the TF2 folder in the steamapps folder and find the .exe file for the game (it'll probably be named tf2.exe) and try to run it from there

strangely gameinfo.txt is gone.
