The original point was saying that in order to bring an AK-47 in, you'd have to sneak it in. But if there's no resistance, why would you have to sneak it in?

The fastest average police response time in America is Nashville with 9 minutes. Over-all average for the USA is 10 minutes. 10 minutes of unimpeded machine-gun fire is disastrous, one way or the other. And that's just the response time, it'll be another amount of minutes before tactical comes breaking down doors. But by this time, the shooter would've probably capped himself.

actually i think that record might be broken if there's ever a shooting at my school
theres a police station that is decently close to my school, just a couple of blocks away
depending on traffic they could get here in maybe like 4-5 mins
then again its right in front of a super s foods store so that'll be a problem
edit: also the street can get jammed because traffic (its a 4 way street, so...)

Either way, the best way to prevent something is to plan something.

Because an average gun has like 10 shots until you reload, 30 at most.
And you can't exactly reload while standing in the middle of a classroom.

I actually had to take a class about columbine high school shooting for history last year.

A fully automatic gun that is available for civilians, say, the famous tec-9, holds about 20-30 bullets.
With so many students flooding out, you'd have maybe 16 people hit with bullets. Of those 16, about 4 would be hit with fatal shots. Ammunition is expensive so you'd probably hold around 2 clips, excluding the one currently in that gun.

Wasting all your clips you'd kill around 10-12 students by that time. Then, whipping out a sidearm, you'd probably nail two or three more before somebody stops you, everybody has already run, or you're caught and decide to off yourself.

10 People killed is already an achievement.
