Author Topic: What are your reasons for believing whatever you may believe about Christianity?  (Read 17704 times)

I'm all for gays and that crap, though I'm against gay parentage.
Why?
Newsflash: Studies have shown gay couples make just as good of parents as heteroloveual couples.
Possibly even better, because to get a kid as a gay couple takes a ton more effort than "whoops i forgot to wear a condom ololol"

loveual orientation can't be taught, either.

It just feels like people are trying to take a stand against homoloveuality elsewhere because they know they've lost the marriage battle.

Having a stand against homoloveuals having children is even more ludicrous than being against gay marriage.
It's not like there's a "sanctity of parenting".

Do you have issues with children born out of wedlock to heteroloveual couples?
What about orphanages? Those children aren't even being raised with parents.

What I don't understand is those studies showing that more kids go to prison, kill themselves, or lead overall sub-par lives because they only had a father figure or a mother figure (but not both). Will having two dads or two moms be any better?

I haven't read into that at all but I don't think it's related to lacking a certain gender figure.
I think single parenting is probably more correlated with things like financial instability (basic math; two incomes can provide more than one) or simply not having enough time to spend with your kid when you have all the other things to do. Things that would correlate to the kid not growing up as well.

Believing in something is an action. I'm not convinced by 'evidence' towards the existence of a God, so I pick the path of inaction. The concept of religion is not important to my life. It provides good fodder for arguments, which I quite enjoy, but that's irrelevant to my spiritual laziness. I don't have a reason to find God, so there's no motivation for me to do so. If I felt like the presence of a belief in God would improve my life, then there's no good reason for me to not follow that.

The existence of a God is literally so unimportant to my life that I rarely even consider it. I'll say things like "Oh my God," "Jesus Christ," etc. all the time, but they're expressions stripped of their religious context in my lexicon. When bad things happen, I don't think "Why, God?" and when good things happen I don't think to thank God. The only things that remind me that the concept of a God exists are religious people practicing their religion and atheist people practicing their lack of religion.

To an extent, I agree. I think it's silly to live by a book written in the time of the Romans when the Romans were loving around 2015 years ago. No need to be rude about it, though.

heres an up to date version

I think it's kind of silly to say something is outdated and not know its content and meaning.  Philosophical, scientific, musical, artistic, literary, and mathematical concepts from the same era and beforehand are still relevant today.

i tried to make my point jokingly but yes, this is basically what i was trying to get at.

although some of those are undisputed facts, such as sciences and math, but i digress.
in my opinion, the bible is a just a bunch of collective ideas that society had agreed upon at the time and put a little narration into it, with individuals accepting the beliefs. isn't it about time we wrote a "new" testament with today's included societal beliefs?

democracy is pretty outdated as well

shouldn't we be living under a more modern system like fascism or communism?
