only this awesome server I was hosting back in August that got a ton of attention but the problem was that people were leaving so much

I used to host a ton about two years ago but kinda stopped when rtb died. Whenever I host I do interesting deathmatches like blockocity in the bedroom or randomizer or vehicle rampage.
I mainly used rtb's thing which is now gone, after that I used blocknet(which was a good service btw), but I only used it once because of money reasons. then I never hosted afterwords besides occasional local things with my friends.

I probably will host something again sometime, but not dedi. Hell I may host something on fall break, which starts this wednesday. Probably rampaging vehicles w/ random weapons because that sounds awesome and I already have the save and stuff for it so it doesn't require much fiddling.

A big issue, as Badspot has stated, is that noone releases their private add-ons. ...and once the user quits/is banned, that add-on becomes lost forever.

and there are a lot of projects in development, more than you realize. just look around, ask around, hang around on popular servers or freebuilds and say hi to oldcigarettes. maybe you'll befriend a few of them and start to be part of bigger projects/servers that said oldcigarettes start. or just offer your help to server hosts and be polite about it; some will give you the chance to prove yourself.

OP if you get anything from this topic, I think It should be these from these 2 quotes. These "Creative Servers" that you want can't just be pooped out instantly, you just gotta wait bro things will come along eventually.
You forget people have lives and school and things to do we cant just spend hours on Blockland. Why do you think that during summer there's always more servers to play on? It's cause people most likely will have nothing to do.

I'm honestly surprised that this post got as much popularity as it did.

I truly respect your opinion, but how can creativity leave our minds? First of all, people have the option to play the game or not, if there are no 'good' servers to play on DON'T play at all, it's your own damn opinion. YOU even have the option to play Singleplayer, it's not new. I don't know how you can indirectly insult an audience of casual players on this game. It's stupid because you play no contribution to this so called dilemma, that is technically meaningless. The one thing that truly bothers me is that people actually care about the opinions of others on here. Something so meaningless as another user calling out "lack of effort" within the community can spark irritation. I don't know what the common excitement is for servers on this game anymore so I can't really judge. All the servers I've played on recently have been good.

Finally, this post shouldn't exist nor should previous posts discussing the similar topic of: crap servers, lack in originality, etc. I apologize for not wasting my time hosting a server that will more than likely be left empty 24/7 after the initial launch. It doesn't matter how original, exciting, fun, crazy, and entertaining a server is; its excitement will die down after a period of time anyway. If you are every going to indirectly insult anyone ever again, please at least have some proper reasoning and research behind your opinion.

if you don't like the current servers i would say they should host their own server, not just leave the community...

Shameless plug, but Liquid and I are hosting a Medieval Tournament build at the moment.
It's WIP, but coming along nicely. We've been up for several days (not constantly), and have had very little traffic, which has made it a bit boring.

Our plan is to build a ModTerrain environment (going smoothly so far), have a small town with various houses and shops, have a castle, and also a tourney ground, which includes one large battle-arena (fit for 4v4 combat), a jousting arena, and an archery competition. Possibly more minor things too.

Anyone who would like to come by and build some Medieval style buildings, which we will later incorporate into the environment, would be warmly welcomed.
