Author Topic: Windows 10 Isn't fully functional after installation  (Read 1090 times)

I've been putting of getting Windows 10 for a little while, partitially because I didn't like it as much as 8.1 and partially because when I first tried it on my Surface 3 it was slow and buggy and on my desktop it had internet connection issues.

Well, for whatever reason my computer restarted and upgraded to Windows 10 today (WTH?). Whatever. I'd rather not have to go back to Windows 8.1 AGAIN, so I'd figure I'd keep it this time.

However, it's still having the same issues as before; I cannot use anything that's default (such as Edge or Mail) in terms of internet. Google Chrome doesn't work either. However, I opened Steam and it works just fine? I tried Wifi and Ethernet (the cord was just barely long enough, lol), and no avail. I cannot find anything on this anywhere.

So right now I have my Surface 3 (glad I just got the keyboard, lol), but I want my desktop back! Anyone know what I can do?

P.S. I tried pinging google.com on command prompt and it connected; I know it's connected to the internet.

It's a custom rig.

Core i5 4460
MSI Z87 PC-Mate
Sapphire Radeon R9 270
Fury Hyper X 8 gigabytes DDR3 1600 MHz RAM
Kingston 300V 120 GB SSD
Western Digital Caviar Blue 7200 RPM 320 GB HDD

Nothing else is important.

i might be forgeted then
a few days after our isp gave us a router because our old one was on its last legs theres a small thing that says "Get Windows 10 Free" but the guy that came said to ignore it
few days later a window forced itself up that said i was eligible for windows 10 but i closed it, happened again a few days later
if what people say about windows 10 is true and OP said it auto-updated to w10 then I may be in trouble

turn it off and on again
Already tried that, but I guess I can try again

EDIT: Just tried logging into the calendar app and it worked just fine. All my Skype contacts's birthdays and what not is showing up.

there's an option within 10 to go back to Windows 8.1

search for it and try it

windows 10 forgeted with me as well, don't worry about it
i watched a video on a computer technician veteran that started like back in the 80s and he said the reason not to upgrade is cause software will have issue for months
and he was right
drivers are still forgeted

i assume it wasn't a clean install?
something similar happened to me way back with windows 8 where a bunch of my applications were straight up not working
i backed up all important stuff onto an external and just wiped my hdd, reinstalling os
everything worked like a charm after that
i did update from windows 8.1 - 10 without a clean install though, but so far i haven't encountered a single issue, at least none of the ones you're having

i should take my extra EXTRA backup drive, format it, and try a clean install and see if i get different results from my last attempt

Yes I am aware. I already did that months ago when these issues showed up. I want to stay on 10 this time though.

I think I'm just going to go back to 8.1, backup my files, go back to 10 and do a complete reset of the OS, if I have tomorrow.

What kind of error comes up when you try to use Chrome.

i doubt it but either your rig doesn't support w10 or your comp was made for a different windows (like 7)

your comp was made for a different windows (like 7)
yeah that's how computers work
