Author Topic: What are your beliefs  (Read 3974 times)

It can seem scary or upsetting to think that there might not be an afterlife, and one day I'll be completely gone. That's not something I can really comprehend. I can't fathom the idea of there being nothing and not even being able to think.
It really scares me when I think about this, personally. But I believe that when we die, we're going to lose our consciences and not feel any emotion, such as fear or anxiety. I really hope that reincarnation exists, though. A theory me and my school buddies have jokingly come up about reincarnation was 'What if the light we see when we die is an opening of another vagina?'

I believe... that there was a similar thread.

I think for some that's a legitimate theory for why people report seeing a bright light, or a tunnel with a bright light at the end of it, compared to the idea that you're seeing the afterlife.

Although one morbid interpretation of that theory is that if it's true, then every time someone has a near-death experience and sees that light, but does not die, does that suggest a stillborn birth or death of a baby occured?

It would also indicate that a baby has no concept of existence while in the womb. Although they cannot remember it with memory, I'm pretty sure that wouldn't be true regardless.

Not really a super religious person, but I'm confident God exists and created everything.

that's literally rape

I think we'd be arguing over whether a soul exists, and at what point a foetus or baby in the womb has a soul.

But then would it matter either way, if a soul at death did transfer to a new-born baby, because those souls clearly don't bring personal experience/memory with them.
Or else we'd all have memories of previous lives, whereas it's a peculiarity when one does claim to have such memories.

I believe in everything, but I don't devote myself to anything. I've been considering trying the "chaos magic" approach. believing in something strongly, then switching to believing in something else entirely once you get a sign, then repeat until you come to your own conclusions about what belief is, but I haven't worked up the stones to start in earnest quite yet.

I believe something happens after death
