Author Topic: Post your Blockland Building Frustrations (B.B.F) here  (Read 1519 times)

This topic is only for the most frustrating and outrageous things to happen to you while you were building whether it was from yourself or another player. It could be a variety of things such as deletions, random spam, and mess ups.

Mine was when I was building an island for CTrooper's Breach and Enter. I finished the island terrain so I went ahead and saved it because I was in a keyboard issue for Blockland. Restarted the game and I started to go to work on the initial island itself. Firstly, the environment of the island. I placed trees, roads, everything. I felt pretty proud of myself because it was the most I ever went into detail with. I started working on the warehouse. The warehouse was a trading incorporation building. Boxes, crates, and you name it were placed down as well. I had the second floor finished with stairs and ladders, I made sure the misc. items were destructible. This alone took me about 2 hours. I felt so proud of myself. I went ahead and started adding in posters for detail. Right when I was doing that--POP!--my computer shut off from overheating. I didn't get to save and my last save was only the base island built. 3 hours of work gone.

I heavily recommend auto-saver and not over heating your computer.

I wish I've known there was an auto-save sooner.

I hate it when you are building, then realize your build is complete and utter crap and then clearing it. Only later to realize it had potential.

When you have a great idea but since all of your admins dropped off of the face of the earth you're all alone so you stop working and forget about the idea.

Also when something is 1 stud off early on and you don't catch it for awhile

When you're building a roof, but you didn't center it right and the inverted corners don't line up
Still in therapy over that one

Biggest nuisance for me is how saving works in regards to baseplates.

I built a baseplate and built on top of it, but then my friend who was hosting, saved and loaded it later on.
He couldn't edit anything even though we have trust, because I wasn't on the server. So he reloaded it without ownership.
I join and get to building on the baseplate which is now his. Not an issue really.

I started doing some events, including named bricks. These bricks are sat on top of the baseplate belonging to my friend.
He saves with ownership, and shuts down.
He loads the save the next day, and all my bricks now belong to him, because they were on his baseplate.
It's not an issue as far as building goes, but I can no longer event properly, because I can't use those named bricks anymore, as they don't belong to me.

He can still use them, and the names are still the same for him, but as he doesn't know what I was doing in regards to events, it just makes it a nuisance.
Our build is fairly event-heavy, and needs a control room, so there are a lot of named bricks. Which means that he's going to have to learn how to event them because they will become his when he saves/loads, or I'm going to have to re-load all the bricks as mine. Which means he then can't build/edit any of the bricks when I'm not on the server. :/

It would be nice if one of the following was true/available;
- Bricks built on a baseplate won't be loaded under the ownership of the baseplate owner.
- Servers had a means of remembering trust (or an Add-On could do this), so you could edit trusted peoples bricks when they weren't there.
- Trusted players could have access to each others named bricks.

probably when creativity leaves my mind

Completing a building to discover the baseplate was 1 stud away from the grid

getting an invalid packet error every time i try to load my build...

IN SINGLE PLAYER GODDAMNIT

Wasn't there a large list of these a while ago?

accidentaly super shifting 1x1s

Knowing full well you have the skill and know how to build well but the complete lack of motivation to do so, making all your builds sub par.

someone complains about the build
host deletes it and bans you
