ok. at the beginning of the thread, you have a quote with wikipedia's definition of web design. that definition.......... does not include something like PHP
you don't even know what PHP is. why do you think you know whether or not it's part of web design?

also, bec's right. it looks like you found out about this stuff yesterday. I don't really feel like you're the right person to make a thread about this

Almost Every website where you can log in uses PHP.
But that's wrong
PHP is the most popular, but nowhere near the only option. The quote you posted about it in the OP gives 39%. That's nowhere near "almost every website"

I had to edit a site for a friend and instead of .html it used .php files.

Personally I use Eclipse but thats because im too much of an uptight ass to use other programs.
But yeah, I also have brackets, its a good editor and it being free is a bonus.
