Why the forget are the keys designed like A B C D and not Q W E R
The original layout of the keyboard was designed for use with the transcription of morse code. For other purposes, if you are capable of flexibility, a different setup may be much more efficient or logical.
For example, if I were to re-do the layout from scratch, I would start with the idea that the letters used most frequently should occur in the locations most convenient for use, starting with say "E" in the current position of R, then "T" in the position of "U." Secondarily, I would work to ensure the adjacency of popular digraphs.
