Author Topic: So, anything going on here?  (Read 2529 times)

Well, the forums have changed a lot.  We've retained a decent amount of players.

The game has also died down some.  It's much smaller now...

Hmm... How's add-ons going? I've learned a lot more data concepts since I was last active, so I could do a lot more.

Well, as far as Add-Ons goes, we've kinda hit a ceiling.  There's nothing more in the way of special unique content.  Many of the innovative mods are being kept privately.  Coders are getting pretty stingy these days.

Not sure if you were around for it, but GSF Ghost's IS Mod has become well-versed.
Terrain Bricks are pretty common and everyone is getting pretty skilled at using them.
A lot of great ideas are coming through S&R, but near to no one is doing anything to help get them done, often questioning "Why would we need this?" and leaving it there.

So most of the innovation left is in bricks? I remember early on with packed add-ons, I had an animated print I based off one from TBM, and was surprised that each time I returned to the game the code still worked fine - in fact, better even. I should check actually...

now anyone can make map cycles in their servers

...so i've heard

also ikethegeneric made a compiled list of all add-on topics on the forums that has download links but that's a few months ago

Just tried playing a little. It was interesting, but... I still enjoy building stuff better than working in what was built.

I found that a cool way to make the game interesting is to use very carefully-lit environments and detailed builds with lots of explorations.  Minimalistic for buildings, and complex for environments.  Makes for a fun time just exploring.  Add a storyline or objective, and it gets even better.  With smart use of events and good sounds and ambiance, you can make it come alive.

Blockland is either building projects, or a number of overused and overpopulated servers with repetitive gameplay.

Did anyone ever get fancy shaders working in the game? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RcPCYHLWouk I know right now you need to read-only the files to get them running... or at least, it use to be like that, but I still enjoyed messing with the game.

Oh, not too much. More or less of the same. Out with the old, in with the new I guess. I've moved on from Miika and Fate/Andrea to prettier girls that you don't white knight. And how've you been?

not much. still creepily obsessed with japanese girls?

I wish I got Acid Trip shaders working in Blockland. Problem is the code I was using was supposed to work in a 3D Grid environment, but Blockland's grid is more dynamic than that. It does have a grid, but objects take up multiple slots in the grid and their actual forms do not comply to it. Should ask someone with better comprehension of the area to help adapt it...

Spend less time pinching accounts, spend more time lurking.

You're always silly, McJobless.
