No, you do not have this right.

1. He was so far behind me initially when I pulled off my street that I could not even see him. He had perhaps 1/4 mile of visibility distance to my stopped car, perhaps more, and I also had my lights on as well as brake lights so it's not like I wasn't easily visible. A slow moving train could've stopped in that amount of space.

2. I didn't lean on my horn. I tend to use "honked" as not much more than a bop on the steering wheel.

It's a two lane highway with houses and drives on either side. Actually maybe I'll post a pic from Maps later.

In america roads with two or more lanes are sometimes called highways even though they're just normal roads

Eh, Google Maps hasn't been to the area since 2008 and the road has been drastically widened and resurfaced multiple times, but at least they managed to capture a Jaguar XKR.

Those dirt shoulders are not there anymore. It's either grass or concrete.

Our really big highways are usually referred to as interstates (comparable to an autobahn type road for you Europe dwellers). Routes and highways tend to be smaller here. This road is referred interchangeably as a route and a highway, but I'm pretty sure the technical name for it is "Missouri Highway [numbers here]".
