Blocko/Lego style vehicles or regular low poly?

Author Topic: Darryl's Star Wars (AOTC) Pack [POLL: Lego style vs low poly]  (Read 18845 times)

The jango pack is perfect but the clone troopers could use an even less blue grey IMO

i like the black on the clone troopers. As for clipping, just move the pack down/up till its the least noticable. offsetting it from the back farther to remove clipping seems like a bad idea.

Could you make it so the armor plates for Jango's decal are the part that you can color for customizability?
As far as I know it's not really possible with the setup I'm currently using, I'll look into it though.

I think for the jetpack you should do something like the HoverJet playertype but with limited fuel.
I'll probably have a testing server eventually where I'll get a group decision on this
The helmet absolutely needs to come off.
It does, and I don't think I'll change that
Clone troopers (and Mandalorians) have all sorts of utility pouches, etc. Just give them, like, 8 items and the inventory problem will be fixed.
Also, clone troopers don't carry much more than they're helmet, DC-15A/S, a Thermal Detonator, and maybe one or two other devices.
I don't really want to start modifying inventory sizes. I'm not sure how it's done either. If it's easy, I might include a setting to allow hosters to adjust it.
Can you do Republic Commando stuff, including armor/helmet, DC-17m (with all three modes), and E-Web?
Maybe eventually.

Also, can you make the ARF Trooper helmet?
This doesn't actually look like too hard of a model to make, so I'll give you a tentative maybe

The more you work on this pack the more you're tempting me with ideas to make Block Wars prequels.

They'd not be as long as Block Wars is, probably more like shorts, but still- the ideas are there now.

I'm going to end up dooming myself to making Block Wars stuff until I die.
Lol. I fully credit you with inspiring me to start this, so it serves you right! Right after I started recording my clips for Block Wars, I downloaded the entire series and my Star Wars boner has been raging pretty hard ever since.

I'll do some testing tonight and post some comparison shots for a vote I think.

Will do

Wait, you are making the models yourself?

I thought you were importing and editing them from lego stuff

Nah I wish it was that simple. Half of the lego models are too simple for blockland anyway, I usually refer to images of the actual helmets to model them.

For the decals I just google the lego minifig decal and then recreate it using Adobe Illustrator. The dimensions of the lego player vs blockland players chest are a bit different, so it all has to be re-done.

There's still a little bit of clipping but I'm OK with this:

Repositioning it much further will make it look worse IMO.

I do feel I need to do something about the neck though, because this looks a bit ridiculous:

I might try putting a black neck in

Black looked terrible, grey looks OK. The head model is now a separate model to the item (so the item doesn't have a neck)

btw I think you forgot 2 small things in the jango helmet

at the back of the helmet, and some circles around the head

I just have to create the texture for the thing on the back of the head, I've already UV mapped it.

As for the circles, I left them off on purpose.  Some small details like that actually detract from the look of the model as a whole because it starts to look too detailed for blockland

Jetpacks are fully functional:

The way this is set up right now (with Jango for example) is that there is a Jango Fett playertype, which includes his UV mapped chest + decal, and a Jango Fett Jet playertype, which includes his UV mapped chest + decal + jetpack (which functions on right click like normal). It will obviously be the same with the clone troopers, having a clone jet trooper.

For all the helmets, are you gonna make a hatmod alternative?

Eventually maybe, but that's probably at the bottom of my priority list.

If you need sounds for anything here i can hook you up im good at looping, extracting and converting sounds

Thanks, I'll let you know

I needed a break from my troubles with the jetpack, so I'm making a start on the first vehicle of the pack. You can hopefully guess what it is

It's all very primitive shapes so far, adding more geometry comes later in the process. I'm making no effort to make it like Packer's starwars vehicles yet. I want to model it like I normally would first, and see how well that fits with the style i'm going for.

Are these addons going to be only based on the movies or will they include the tv show and extended universe?
