Author Topic: microsoft surface book yes or no?  (Read 1435 times)

i need a new laptop for school, so yeah

i don't really have a budget and i don't like bulky laptops, so i chose the surface book and there were pretty good reviews on it

your opinions please

What do you plan to use it for?

Overall, it's a great device, but if you have good desktop for gaming (which I think you do, right?) it might be worth it to just get a Surface Pro 4 instead. It's even more portable, and and can be laptop or tablet, like the book. Personally, I would go for the Pro 4 instead of the Book, but either one would be great if you really can afford either.

It looks kinda weird with that gap when closed

Like it would break easily or something

The keyboards are terrible, just a warning.

looks like a gel keyboard to me
those aren't good but its better than a touchscreen keyboard so w/e buy a real keyboard for it if you want it

No.

I have the Surface 3 with the keyboard, and I would not classify it as terrible at all. Plus, the Surface 4's keyboard has been greatly improved over previous generations.

That said, he's asking about the Surface Book, which is like an actual laptop so no, it's not "terrible."

i was going to get a desktop but i never really did.
well i dont want the surface pro because i like having more of a laptop keyboard so yeah. I might do some light gaming on the surface book if i decide to get it.

Honestly the price seems to be fairly high-end for a school laptop.

I don't have a budget, so i want the best that is out there

it's for school but i might do some gaming on it too

I'd honestly just get Suface Pro 4 with an i5 and Discrete nVidia GPU option.

But if you have the money, go for it, I just would prefer the standard surface over the book, just make sure you choose one with "Discrete nVidia GPU".

if u have no budget buy some crazy extreme stuff lmao forget the surface

At this point just get the Surface Pro 4 512 GB 6th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 with 16 GB of RAM ($2,199) for most things as well as the Microsoft Surface Book 1TB / Intel Core i7 / dGPU ($3,199).

if you know some crazy ass extreme laptop that isn't bulky and have gaming related stuff all over the place feel free to recommend
