Transparency in Milkshape

I did it before by accident (Portal gun, the little thigny on the top that changes color) but I cant seem to recreate the effect.. anyone know how to do it?

make the material a picture file that is transparent, ie greendark.trans

There's two small sliders in the materials dialog, Slide the right one and it'll affect the transparency.
