This is a bad example, but when Igloos came back as Reindeer (i think that was the name?) he totally turned his stuff around.
I fully agree with the rest of your post, about how Molten should just stop for a long period.
But Igloos is an awful example.
He's been back on 4 different alts (at least), and each has played out the same way.
He starts off posting normal, even joining in intersting and fair conversations and debates. Then about a month or so in, his posts start to get slowly more tribal or homophobic.
Eventually he gets so bad, that people are arguing with him about it, while he's denying it, and he eventually gets banned for saying something really stupid.
Then give it a few months, and he's back with an alt and repeats the process.
He's done it as Igloos, Reindeer, Caribou and Cantaloupe.
Igloos isn't a role model in anyway. He knows precisely what he is doing, and he doesn't change. He puts on this show of being normal and pleasant so that he goes unnoticed for a long time before he starts causing issues.
It's almost psychotic.
