As long as you can find them fast or memorize where they are, you will be alright. A few songs that I learned on recorder you can play on piano since they have same tone.

I play the cello (7 years), guitar (a couple months) and piano (6 months). While the cello will always be my personal favorite, after playing all three, I advise you learn the piano. Not only is a great beginner's instrument because it is easy to learn, but it can also serve as a great gateway instrument into other areas of music. So, it is a great foundational instrument. I am also learning to compose, and the piano also helps greatly with that.

But, no matter what instrument you choose, make sure you choose one you really will enjoy playing. For example, I am motivated to play all of my instruments every day because I think they are awesome and I love the way they sound. When you choose an instrument make sure it's one you will be motivated to learn and play daily. So, remember, music is about you, and your passion. Your instrument should be something personal that you love and enjoy.
