I used to be deathly afraid of swallowing pills. The first time I did, I was like 14 years old and was breaking down sobbing over it. It was a really big fiber pill coated in that plastic-like encasing that houses powder. When I did finally do it, it wasn't so bad.
However, I do have some sort of issue with my throat that my dad also has, which causes some pills to become stuck in my throat. They're too far down to regurgitate and they sometimes won't go down my esophagus for as long as an hour. Although annoying and uncomfortable, I still take pills and just deal with it if that happens. I'm pretty sure you don't have that problem, so you'd very likely be okay. Just put the pill on the hump of your tongue and drink normally without thinking about the pill and it'll just go down with the drink.
I puke every year somewhere in october.
