The US getting involved in overseas affairs only seems to make things worse.
There are more involved parties that just the United States, plus a lot of problems date back before 9/11. You had the British which drew random borders when dismantling the Ottoman Empire, which is why Kurdistan isn't a thing. The British also Established Israel and Palestine, but they let the Israelis take the whole thing. France owned Syria, a lot of the North African Territories from the old Italian Empire like Libya. When Iran nationalized it's oil fields(owned by a British company), the British with the help the United States to go have Mohammed Mosaddegh removed from power so the Shah can let the Brits have their oil. The English, French, and Americans all gave weapons to Israel which pissed off the Arabs. Soviets gave weapons to the enemies of our puppets and countries in our sphere of influence. We armed and Trained the Osama to go kill "evil" ruskies in Afghanistan. They gave weapons to Sah Iran which were used against against Iraq. Then there was the UK, US, France, and anti-saddam countries going against Iraq in 1991 to secure oil.
After that said Osama who was the commie fighting hero told the US stay out of Arab affairs and told us to get out after the Gulf War. Deciding to stay, he bombed a US Destroyer in port.
Clinton Established the Iraqi Liberation act which planted the seeds for another war with Iraq. Then 9/11 happens and we go to the middle east. Bush W. took those plans forward from Clinton leading to the Iraq as we know it. Obama is elected, more stuff in the middle east happens and we are still there. Libya has it's revolution, NATO goes and missile strikes Libya to help the rebels. Syria happens, we arm and supply FSA. Russia gets involved too Syria along with NATO.
So basically everyone is involved.
