I doubt their goal is to push around the military. If they really are terrorists, they've done a wonderful job inciting terror. The result of this will be more disdain against regular muslims from the general public, making more young muslims feel isolated/alienated, leading more of them to take up arms against the west.

I feel like 99% of the time stuff like nukes are brought up, the person bringing them up knows nothing about them outside of "throw this at that thing you don't want and it dies" or is deliberately ignoring that there's a reason nuclear non-proliferation is a thing.
