for instance i jumped straight into Halo: Reach and Halo: 4 without playing CE or 2 or 3
i read up about them and saw videos about them to understand the storyline and stuff

Well it just so happens Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 have absolutely nothing to do with each other nor the previous games thanks to Bethesda so you just might be able to play them!

However if you want the real story to Fallout make sure to play Fallout 1, 2 and NV first. Fallout 3 and 4 are spin-offs story wise.
