Author Topic: Walmart killed Thanksgiving and they are trying to pretend they didn't.  (Read 5412 times)

Also you know there is a problem when the PAID employees aren't getting paid enough to support their lifestyle so walmart has a food drive for poorly paid employees.

When people see a thief they tell them to "get a job" well what happens when your job isn't even enough to loving live off from?

People need to get with the times and realize cyber Monday is a thing
yes you are in risk of being injured or even killed during Black Friday shopping when you can just do Cyber Monday shopping

Only ethnics go to Black Friday.

Good thing I quit. I never work more than 8 hour shifts. I even set my availability forcing them to give me 4 hour shifts because that's less time I'm at walmart.

So you worked four hour shifts and then wondered why you weren't making enough money? lmao

Are you sure you weren't fired? I wouldn't want to keep someone around who only works 4 hours :s
Besides how did you even get hours like that? New associates are always given stuffty shifts..

Also what was your position?

I wasn't wondering that.

I never needed the job in the first place. I was working 1.5 years with the average 40 hours a week and then I snapped and wanted less than 18 hours. I never needed the job why was I acting like I needed it. In all honestly if I weren't living comfortably currently I wouldn't be able to survive living off walmart wages no matter how much I worked.

Also what was your position?

Electronics, they are forced to deal with it. Apparently electronics is "too hard and complicated" for the average Walmart employee so they are forced to keep us around no matter what our hours are.

why do Americans have thanksgiving later in the year opposed to October during the harvest season like Canadians or the British?

is it something to do with the pilgrims or being different from the commonwealth?

Yeah the average Walmart employee is like over 30 and female.

On the days I work except one I'm the only male in customer service lol

I quit for two reasons. The first is that their entire work structure is just disgusting. The second is that the pay is a ripoff at every level. Over the course of a year I moved from a stocker (Almost no knowledge needed. Paid 20 cents above minimum), to Electronics (A little knowledge needed, good common sense needed, about 4x the responsibility of stocker. It paid 20 cents more.), to Connections (Higher than average intelligence needed, another 2x the responsibility needed over Electronics. It paid 40 cents more.), and before I quit I was being considered for a department manager position (Insane amount of responsibility. Paid 10 cents more than connections). Walmart is a dead end. Climbing the ladder doesn't get you out of being paid dirt.

They merged connections and the photocenter in with Electronics. So I had to cover electronics, phone contracts and the photo center.

One time I was scheduled alone by myself for over 6 loving hours during the holiday rush season. I had to rush from electronics to photo multiple times. Did they give me help when I asked? Nope.

Oh damn. At this point they're just admitting that they're paying their employees next to nothing.

One of the final straws why I quit was because I was there for almost 2 years making 10.10 then this new guy shows up to electronics making 10.80 because he had previous experience in Costco.

The final straw being Pitch Perfect 2.
