My brother saw a video of it on YouTube. He downloaded the demo mode and played it on our old Macintosh computer that we had set up in the garage. I walked out there to see what he was doing and saw him playing Blockland. I asked what it was and he told me and let me play it a bit. I ended up downloading it on my own computer upstairs and playing the demo in version 9. Couple days later version 10 was released and I really wanted to play online. So I begged my dad for a key and he bought it for me. My brother realized I had a key and he asked my dad for the key. My dad supplied him with it but then we started to fight because we wanted to play on a server but only one of us could play on the server at a time. So I gave him the key and bought begged for another one. The first server I played on with my brother was Badspot's Block Party. Pretty sure it was island or pirate themed. All I remember was having so much fun building with bricks with tons of other players online as a mini-figure without having to go out and buy packs of bricks like you would with standard Lego sets. Thanks for the good times Badspot.
By the way, The first thing I built was a dark foggy maze in demo mode. The struggle of only being able to use 150 bricks.
