it's not christan only, you just need a religion
Right, I say Christian because the organization itself is officially Christian but my question is, do you need proof to join, or is it just "pls be religious k?"

Really?
I knew it was a Christian organization but I never knew it was a requirement
No, there are plenty of troops that don't revolve around a church/religion many cities have them.

being a secular group that isn't connected to a place of worship doesn't mean it's not an offical requirement.

no idea, I'm in a catholic troop but we let two protestants in, so I'm guessing they just ask the parents if they go to church or something

because I live in an area that has churches at every corner, if you join scouts it's pretty much implied that you are christian.

Hate to break it to you but in the real world nobody cares if you are an eagle scout

everyone but me apparently

Every once in a while I hear that somebody's an eagle scout and someone boasts about it or something. It's an achievement but it doesn't mean anything to me and when I've asked them about it they aren't very proud of it.

It isn't this. It's just that it's a rank handed out by a private organization that is rather commonly gained, and the gaining of it doesn't signify much at all.

All the same, congratulations.

I was a boyscout once. What a waste of time and effort.
Also, other kids suck.

tsk not even an eternal scout

on the point of having to be religious to get in, what if your worshipped the flying spaghetti monster, cthulu, or was in that Jedi Order thing?

if its a religion under us law they'll probably let you in

I looked into it and it looks like you have to be able to demonstrate how your "fulfill your duty to God" or something one that

So that makes me wonder: what about nontheistic or polytheistic religions?

http://scoutdocs.ca/Documents/Fundamental_Principles.php
"Under the title "Duty to God", the first of the above-mentioned principles of the Scout Movement is defined as "adherence to spiritual principles, loyalty to the religion that expresses them and acceptance of the duties resulting therefrom". It should be noted that, by contrast to the title, the body of the text does not use the word "God", in order to make it clear that the clause also covers religions which are non-monotheistic, such as Hinduism, or those which do not recognize a personal God, such as Buddhism"

everyone but me apparently

i dont look down upon it, im neutral because im too lazy to look up what they actually are
