Did they allow her to bring it on in the end?
No they threatened to take away her flying privileges so she had to surrender she travels a lot

If she travels so much why did she think she could get away with taking that onboard the plane? Those rules have been in place for years now.

statistics like this are handicapped. There are substantially more cars than planes and the time you will spend in cars is significantly higher than time you will spend in planes. so ya no stuff you're more likely to die in a car

it's like when people say "you're more likely to die from a deer than a shark"
again I live on land with deer not in the ocean so no stuff

you know, those statistics are based off of how many people fly vs how many people die from flying, and how many people drive/get driven vs how many people die in a car

not just the total population

Again those numbers will be heavily weighted, So idk what that changes.

a significant number of people have driven but never flown which makes the possibility of a car crash obviously higher than a plane crash

Chances of dying in a plane crash are around 1 in 8 million.
Chances of dying in a car crash are around 1 in 8 thousand.

Planes are 1000x (three orders of magnitude) safer than cars to ride in.
when i crash my car i will probably survive
when i crash in a plane i will probably die

survival rates for car crashes vs plane crashes would be something better to look at

there are many more cars than planes and the consequences of accidents are different
those statistics are loaded, and are complete bullstuff

for once I agree with richardlord

Never had a problem with tsa. Forgot about water in my backpack one time but that's it.

Made a joke about cancer and full body scanners once... The tsa agent didn't like that very much

I never flew. So i dont have any experience in this other than the TSA sucks.

Dude. You're completely misunderstanding the statistics. The statistics aren't "What are the chances of an airplane crashing"
They're "what are the chances of the airplane you're flying on crashing and dying in it"
That's (probability of airplane crashing) x (probability of dying if a plane crashes), it takes into account both of them

i want to see the specific statistic that shows probability of surviving an aircraft crash
not a civilian aircraft, thats easy to survive, im talking planes like a 787

the only times i've been on planes was when i was very little, the only thing i've remembered from it was that it felt like the plane took a long time to get into the air

i have a box of snickers and it got taken away by the tsa

i guess they thought i was smuggling cocaine in snickers or something

I imagine crashing in something like the beat up old Cessna everyone has is far more dangerous than a full commercial airliner. Most aviation accidents/deaths I can think of all involved small aircraft.

You're more likely to die on the way to the airport than you are in an aeroplane crash.

When I went to Indonesia for the first time as a kid I accidentally left an old toy gun in a bag that my dad used as his carry on.
Mid walk through all the metal detectors and bag scanners he got grabbed and escorted to some interview rooms where he spent like 2 hours getting screened and blasted for having the gun.
Bonus because it was in between the lining of the bag where it had torn, hence why no one saw it in there beforehand and that looks dodgy af.

During my travels around Asia I was using a passport from when I was 13 and I look so different now that every time I crossed a border or went through an airport the staff would ask me a bunch of questions and think it was someone else's passport, which was pretty troubling. It was a hell bad photo too.

when a little plane crashes theres not much to crash, its light, and small
when a big plane crashes its a massive impact, with huge amounts of fuel and metal at way higher speeds

much easier to survive a small crash than a big crash
