Author Topic: Computer help ( WON"T POST)  (Read 2803 times)

So after 5 months, I've finally mustered enough dosh to buy all the parts and have ordered them on amazon and they are coming in soon!

Here's the old topic for anyone that was wondering what i'm talking about http://forum.blockland.us/index.php?topic=283920.msg8527909#msg8527909

I've made a few changes to lower the cost and improve other areas I ended up ditching the 4k monitor due to refreshing issues and I found a really good deal on a
Ultra wide 21:9 Monitor(Acer X4R1CK)- 3440x1440.

I did more research and decided to scrap the EVGA 980ti and go with the G1 Gaming Windforce 980ti due to better performance.

Other then that everything has stayed the same. I will be uploading photos of progress and maybe a video later of me putting all the parts together.

 So far Items recieved

G1 Gaming GEFORCE GTX 980 Ti
    1TB Western Digital Hard drive
    2x8 Hyperxfury White ram sticks
     I7 4790k Chipset
    Z97-A Motherboard
Corsair CS750M Power Supply (80+ Gold Rating)

If you're going to spend this much on a PC then you really gotta go with a gsync monitor

I was willing to sacrifice g-sync for better color's / immersion but, the screen Has adaptive sync for AMD Cards but I couldn't really find a amd card I wanted with the same performance.

at this rate this topic is probably just gonna document me building if anything was really interested in seeing that

if you spent this much on a computer already you might as well get a ssd

make sure that absolutely no static electricity or any liquid can touch any of the parts. don't build it on carpet or on anything cloth (idk what material it might be) like bedsheets or blankets. any static electricity that makes contact with the parts kills them off. i'm probably making this sound more serious than it really is, but still be cautious.

If you can find them, get an anti-ESD mat or AT LEAST an anti-ESD wristband.

Use a static mat or at the very least ground yourself.

Also, get a goddamn mofuggin SSD or be a plebian. (Use the HDD as well though.)

I had an ssd in the build but I took it out for the better monitor. I'll probably get one down the line.

unfortunately my entire house is carpet so im not really sure what to do, someone told me to plugin my power supply and just touch every so often and I guess I could work in my kitchen but there's no room rip

Closer look at the gtx 980!

i hate cards that long
no reason for three fans, my zotac 970 keeps it cool and its a small card compared to the gigabyte 970 that looks like yours

I don't see why the size is a problem I mean most cases can fit it and performance woooo

my main rig is mini itx so im a little biased but still it doesn't need to be that long

I have never seen anyone bragging about a Zotac card.

I have never seen anyone bragging about a Zotac card.
zotac owns sapphire which make my 7770, had no problems
zotac makes my 970 which was the cheapest one at the time and has no problems
