I've seen this used a great many number of ways. I think the explanations in this thread cover most of the usages, but ultimately it depends on the context of the post.





i always wondered why it doesnt appear until you press a key and if you press 2 it becomes ~~ and its mildly annoying because i need to remove 1 if i need just 1

it's programmed to wait for the letter it is supposed to be placed over.

ex: ã, õ.

if it does something like ~i ~j or ~~ it's because it the version of the letter with a tilde doesn't exists.
