Poll

Is Swollow the champion?

yes
no

I have two options to choose from:

One, I use Strawpoll and don't allow people from the same IP to vote. This presents two problems, however. For one thing, it really is not hard to reset an IP and manipulate the votes anyway. Two, it also prevents multiple people from one household from participating in the poll (such as brothers who both use the forums).

The second option is just reset this poll as if nothing happened, but I won't allow for extensive alt rigging at all. I'm already aware of several accounts that have participated in rigging this poll and I'm keeping an eye on new accounts registered on the forums. If a user is getting enormous spikes in vote counts after low activity plus several other determining factors, that user, as well as all users who have appeared to rig the polls, will be completely disqualified from all 2015 polls.

Because more people find it more fun this way.

I'm thinking about completely redoing this poll using Strawpoll due to the unfair advantage here. This wasn't supposed to be a group of friends grouping together to rig the polls in favor of themselves.
is that how Nick got all those votes cuz I heard he's a total loser!

Straw poll has proven to be reliable on other polls in the past.

i think strawpoll was abused in the forum games voting thread one time, or so i've heard

the most absolute most genuine way to make votes with no errors is by pm's or posting, but some people can't pm and posting would be tricky

Ya but the problem with pming votes is a lot of people don't bother to partake then
They see the thread while browsing and think "Oh I'll vote" find out they will have to send XR a pm every day if they wanna partake and I can honestly say I wouldn't vote if that had to be done. So much work for contest that has no actual point besides slightly novelty

also XR how long are you running each poll?

There is no form of rigging going on here. The Harvest has seen to it, personally.

apparently having friends makes you ineligible to be blocklander of the year. Strange to because a large part of the game is the social chat room aspect

I'll just make my own Blocklander of The Year.

Yes, because you can magically tell whether or not people are using previously registered alternate accounts in the sea of tens of thousands of other accounts to rig the vote.

I mean, you can check the activity of the alts of people such as Tony or Raven.

yeah that's true

Plus it would be complete bs if you just reset one poll instead of the whole competition. Just start over if you feel there is tons of corruption because who's to say the past polls haven't been messed with as well?
I mean if you just reset this one it would kinda show you altering with the results to suit your agenda
I don't think you are that kinda person XR so might as well just let it go on as planned or start from scratch but ban certain users which would also be unjust imo

i think it's bs to assume everyone cheated and not just some people.

every year that xr has done this thing it's been a fun laid back popularity contest, with no real stakes and no reward, and every year a select few people cheat and forget with the poll cus they want to win.

I never said everyone cheated?
I said you have no way of knowing if the other polls didn't run into problems of corruption

My worry is that if people are rigging the polls, it may not always be at the request of the person recieving the votes.
I wouldn't put it past some of the people here to forget with the poll even when they or their friends aren't currently up for voting, just because they can.

So it could be possible for someone to be disqualified because others rigged the poll against their wishes.
And if you start disqualifying people, what is to stop people from maliciously rigging in favour of a user with the intent to get them removed from the competition?
