Author Topic: New graphics card came in.  (Read 3947 times)

I upgraded from a Radeon HD 7770 to a 960 specifically for Fallout 4 and ended up having to get a new power supply with it, for my old one wasn't enough for the 960. I also had trouble fitting it in the case so I also needed to move a bunch of stuff in my computer aside for the beast to have enough room.

What was your old power supply? Mine is 460w. The 960 I bought needs at least 400w and a 6 pin connector and I had both.

It's a huge upgrade the fans are bigger than the old card itself. lol.

Best Buy was selling a 960 2gb for 219.

Newegg was selling this 960 4gb for 194.

It was a no brainer.

whyyyyy

This money should have gone to a better GPU, dude

But a 960 plays Fallout 4 on ultra without framerate issues?

You think I should go for the titan?

I've also recently upgrade from a 650 to a 960.
Of course I built a completely new rig in general.

Im going to buy the same one. how does it peform on modern-ish games?

Hey now I also bought a 32gb ram upgrade but I didn't post pictures of that.

What the hell are you trying to do? Run Blockland, Photoshop, Cubase 7, and Premier all at the same time? That's an extravagant amount of memory that's useless unless you're trying to render/preview things on hardcore production applications, like a DAW or video editor.

Every modern game I've tested can play on MAX everything and still remain at 60 fps.

I think he just doesn't know any better

I have 16 gigs and have like 10 programs open and even then it's like half used.

Maybe he has money to shell out?

Diminishing return. If you don't use the memory, its a waste of money. Could spend it on something actually useful.

cool, this Christmas im getting a GeForce GTX 970

I could have got a 970 or higher but then I would have to upgrade my power supply, I didn't want to spend too much money.

Besides the 960 is all I need to play Fallout 4 on ultra.

i have a 630, i envy you so much. the thing is though i can run blockland at max shaders with <10000 bricks.

Oh man every penny was well spent.

I can play HATRED on ultra settings with no framerate loss now.
