Discuss your mining Riggs or Bitcoin in general

As much as I like bitcoin, mining it is becoming increasingly pointless as time goes on

The maximum number of bitcoins is 21 million.

I know there were a couple of big bubbles that dropped about 2 years ago, but have there been many recently?
Unless you have a mega-powerful rig, is there even money in mining it to make it worthwhile?

okay what? mining bitcoins? someone please explain

Basically you make the computer try to solve really hard problems. When you find a solution to the problem, you can exchange that solution for a bitcoin, which is used as currency.

hey haven't I seen you before
didn't you make those pointless stuffpost threads like where you played hide and seek with a demon and stuff

is ok
I can see why you'd think that

this seems kind of pointless unless you have some serious hardware

iirc a bitcoin is like $270 usd so you probably get like 0.09 bitcoins per math problem thing

I think on generic/lower spec pcs the electricity to run your pc can cost more than your output is worth.

when i looked at what a 7770 could do that i had laying around it wasn't impressive, something of around 100 - 150 dollars a year
and that was already awhile ago, its gone down since
