do you know what i hate most about going to school? sleeping. I have to go to bed at 11 just to have enough energy to continue living in the morning. i laid there for two hours last night and it was the most boring loving thing i have ever done, unable to fall asleep, just sitting there, being like "wow, i have an extremely limited time on this earth to do things i want to do and educate myself and i'm wasting my time here sitting doing nothing. two whole loving hours wasted. this is loving bullstuff. i hate sleeping. where's the off switch? just give me the loving button so i can sleep, don't make me sit there for two whole loving hours doing nothing!

as a kid i would have such troubles falling asleep i would fantasize about a device you could put in your brain that would just click and you'd put your head to the pillow and your mind would enter this vestibule, where you could watch movies or play games as you slept or just wake up

i'd dream about this stuff so hard i'd fall asleep dreaming about it and think maybe it was real

i've lucid dreamt before but i always end up losing control and forcing myself out of the dream, or it gets really disturbing. iunno what's up with my brain but i only have nightmares or no dreams at all.

Crazy, but on average, we spend 1/3rd of our lives asleep, provided we get an average of 8 hours sleep a day.

if im focused i cant sleep
i have to start wandering with my thoughts
sometimes i catch myself in the act and get focused again, then i have to start wandering again to go to sleep

why does resting =/= sleep? shouldn't logically, if resting is as inactive as sleeping, you don't really need to sleep

it gives the brain a break from being conscious
im sure conscious thought takes a lot of energy

Just the other night, this same thing happened to me. I went to bed early since I needed to be up at 7:00am but I simply was not tired. 11pm passed. 12. 1. 2. 3. I think I finally dozed off but woke up again at 4 something, then 5 something, then around 6:30 and I stayed awake from there.

OP, try reading a (text) book or something before trying to sleep. Do something that is boring but still somewhat beneficial. Also it is important that you do not look at a bright/backlit screen while doing this.

If you have trouble absorbing information from a book while sleepy, that is fine. The ultimate objective is to fall asleep more quickly, not learn things, but don't tell yourself that if you don't want to feel like you are wasting your time. :p
