Yeah but they should have used him more.

I do wish they would've, but I still loved the screentime he got.

Also the fact that he survived the crash is really really odd

Why? Finn survived just fine, that's not really really odd?

I actually wouldn't be surprised if they tried to kill him off but changed the script later on to keep him alive. His survival felt shoehorned in.

Did you not remember? Poe was still in the Tie fighter when it sunk into the sand, and THEN it exploded. So being engulfed in sand to suffocate and then surviving an explosion. Seems odd to me.

edit: and Finn got out beforehand, so it makes sense why he survived. :p

if finn got parachuted out, it would make sense that poe might have had the same thing happen to him. i was totally cool with him living anyway, i forgetin love poe

I thought he was catapulted out of the windshield when it crashed. That's what it looked like anyway. He definitely got out before Finn woke up.

no he wasn't

this is what happened

but I'm pretty sure that his jacket still being in the fighter was evidence that he wasn't parachuted
no he wasn't

yeah i'm pretty sure it was. they crashed at day time, and Poe specifically said that he woke up in the middle of the night when the thing basically burped him out. and unless a large amount of time passed when Finn was knocked out, it would've had to been after

also i dont think Poe would've just left Finn if he actually did get out before him, considering that his parachute was easily visible from the contrast of sand

Whereas FN-2187, dubbed "Finn" by Dameron, ejected from the TIE shortly before it crashed on the planet's surface,[3] Dameron recovered consciousness just in time to set the craft down more or less intact, and got out of the roosterpit before something blew, leaving his jacket behind. Suffering from a concussion and a brief period of memory loss, he moved away from the crash. When he awoke, Dameron found himself alone and set off to find a ship and contact the Resistance, sure that he would be able to reunite with BB-8 with their help.

Yeah but they should have used him more.
I think he was unfortunately stepped over to give Han/Chewie more room.
I get the feeling that Poe fills the Han section of the trinity of main characters, both being charming, level-headed ace-pilots (you can debate who out of finn/rey fills the role of luke/leia).
There are obviously major differences too, but that's how I see the sequel trilogy mirroring the original trilogy.

I think we will get more screentime with Poe in Ep8, when there shouldn't be another main character thrust centre stage.

Poe specifically said that he woke up in the middle of the night
He immediately follows up with the line "no ship, no you, nothing."

I liked r2d2 more than bb8 because he screamed a lot, similar to how I, too, scream a lot.
