They were losing the war badly before they dropped the bombs. The only reason the U.S. dropped the bombs at all was because the Soviet Union just declared war on Japan and the U.S. wanted to rebuild them as an ally themselves so they wouldn't get the occupation issue they got with Germany. They also wanted to see what effect the bombs would have on people and used it to show the USSR what kind of power they have. But there is no way Japan was going to win at that point.

Oh boo hoo your country killed 250,000 civilians. It's not like Japan killed 20+ MILLION Chinese civilians. If you friends didn't drop the bombs then more civilians would have died in the mainland. And if you did a land invasion the death toll would have been around 10 million. The Atom Bombs were the best options.
