You'd sure be able to process a lot of explosions, you'd need a "video card" to run better graphics.

a processor doesn't necessarely give you good graphical ability
a gpu handles most of the things for games, but don't get me wrong, a fast processor does help, but the gpu you have also really does count

The 6000 series i7's are fantastic CPUs, and I think you should certainly get one if it's financially feasible for you.

If you are interested in playing video-games on your computer, I would suggest a form of dedicated GPU (Graphics Card).

nVidia GeForce GTX cards are known to be wonderful for gaming with minimal headaches, and I would suggest a GTX 960, 970, or 980. It is possible to use more than one GPU at a time, but that will not be necessary.

You can also look into AMD graphics solutions, but it's often more difficult to find a suitable GPU from AMD if you are a novice computer-er. On the contrary, AMD devices are generally less money to purchase.

There is a computer thread in off-topic that houses a bunch of goons to help with this sort of decision making.
