I applied to Georgia Tech a couple months ago, and I'll receive a decision in early January.
Basically, Georgia Tech is an extremely rigorous and accomplished engineering school, but there's a huge drinking, party, and athletics culture that fosters a stuffty reputation. Lots of people don't graduate because of that, but if you're serious about your academics, you'll do well there. Imagine MIT but with an ASU-style student culture.
They also send you a neat little toy car in the mail when you submit your application. It's made of paper and you assemble it together with glue and scissors.
