Author Topic: Is it me, or has the amount of online players in-game increased recently?  (Read 1138 times)

I've been noticing this for the last week actually. Currently 400 players are in-game right now. While it is a Sunday afternoon/evening, its still unusual for there to be this many in-game. I could be wrong, but I just feel like there have been tons more playing as of the last week.

#1: The game recently went on sale.
The game's had more exposure and it's sale brought in people who might have previously been skeptical about purchasing it.

#2: More interesting servers have been popping up recently.
I don't know how much this can be stressed but we need to make and host more gamemodes. Even TheBlackParrot's pictionary brought in a boatload of people. When there's no interesting servers up, people scan the list and then move on. When there's interesting servers up, it tends to catch people's attention and have them get on servers more often.

#3: It's close to the holidays
Generally there's more activity around major holidays.

I knew about the first thing with the Steam sale, however in my 2-3 years of playing, I have never really noticed a significant player difference on during the holiday season. Definitely more, but nothing substantial. However, during the summer there are always lots of people on.

Also I wholeheartedly agree with you about others hosting game modes. I just think people should start hosting things which are fun and allow for the user to become involved, such as a simple DM. I may even start hosting a simple pushbrooming server soon, maybe it'll attract some users.

it helps more too when gamemodes are released to the public, it'll give more options to server hosters and gives more things for players to do.

don't hog things just to get your e-richard stroked for a week, release them.

I agree, but I do think that it should be up to the creator to do what he wants with his creation. If he or she doesn't want to release it to the public, that's his/her choice. I don't think anyone should be forced to release something to the public unless they want to. It doesn't make them selfish, it just means they'd feel more comfortable with only themselves having it.

Whirlwind and I will be hosting falling tiles on Christmas Eve. Should be fun.

you kinda contradicted yourself there

what people do is they boot up the game, scan the server list for a good server with players then either quit the game because they couldn't find one or they join that server.

well this is genuinely surprising

I know, ordinarily you'll have players in one or two particular servers not spread out evenly in the server list.

Us college students are finishing up the semester as well, so that probably factors into the increased playercounts. A large portion of the community is made up of 18-2something year olds.

its christmas for blockland server hosts - practically any decent server now will have at least 2-3 visitors, if not more

Blockland is living
Blockland is now undead

blockland is a zombie

i strongly encourage releasing your works, at least after you're finished with them
but there may be some circumstances where you can't? maybe

making topics in general discussion help get players for whatever you're hosting as well so you can avoid getting only 1-3 players

Many people are starting to go on vacation now so we get more players.
