Author Topic: I have ten absences from school so far, god damnit  (Read 1826 times)

Four of those days I had a very intense fever, and for six I had violent diarhea. My school does not tolerate absences lightly and I am honestly afraid about what my principal might tell me tomorrow as this would be my 9th or 10th absence because I have ANOTHER fever. I'm a senior, and I am afraid (really afraid) about my principal bringing up leaving me behind like he did in the 9th grade because of this same problem. I have very nice grades too and make up all my work, so it'd be unfortunate if it were to happen. Also as some of you know, educators always try to find "patterns", and it worries me that they may find something even if it isn't correct at all (such as conclude that I've been sick on certain days of the week and then believe that I've been purposely "trying" to be sick on those days). Thankfully my parents send an email to my homeroom teacher notifying them about the absence, so at least it is legitimate and not done without my parents' consent.

Anyone else on here have any experience with this? Not sure what to call it, also NO it's not truancy.

yeah you sure do seem like a senior

Damp, honestly.

The most absences I took due to illness was a "recovery day" in third grade because I threw up and really didn't want to go to school Monday. That's about it though.

Wow I envy you. I've always had a very poor immune system and never quite get over illness quickly.

Go 2 school with a fever

They have a policy where you'll be sent back if you haven't been over the fever for a twenty four hour period.

Lmao don't envy me I'm hella germaphobic, and paranoid of foodborne illnesses, hence my vegetarianism.

I'm germaphobic too, we must be brothers. I don't touch doorknobs, I wash my hands pretty much one or two dozen times per day and I usually avoid shaking hands with others (only with friends, not with other adults tho, as that'd be rude).

stuff you're way more germaphobic than me lol

Lmao. I ranked up 23 absences but my school year is ending so...

I first started washing my hands compulsively when I was about six I think.

Oh wow, nobody has said anything to you so far?

Yes but I couldn't care less.

In my 3rd year of high-school I became ill so I was out for around 3 months. I was able to pass the semester though from studying at home.

Were you sick on those days, or were you just playing hookie? I was legitimately sick all of these days, so yeah. I don't enjoy high school at all and the only reason why I am so worried is because I just want to graduate and go to college.

Wow I go to a small preparatory school and nothing is really online.

ya but they have to actually know you have a fever
Just stay until the time when they consider you present (for us it was 10:50) then go home
