i don't understand what you mean, i intended it to be in quotations

the problem is the spaces and slash
putting spaces makes the 2 look like a coefficient, and any half decent mathematician would use a fraction bar for this kind of thing because of this very debate

regardless, 9 is correct (assuming you ignore spaces)

What is pemdas
I thought it was bodmas

The confusion is the vague text representation.

6 / 2(2+1)
6 / 2(3)
3(3)
9

i would have said 1 if it was explicitly mentioned this were a fraction-based problem. which it wasn't.

same problem as last time iirc lol

it's different if you write it as 6 / (2(2+1))

I could see my math prof doing this to us...

i kept loving getting one until i realized i had autism and then got 9

This is gay. Questions that trip people up with bad math formatting aren't challenging, they're just stupid.

Here's a real math question. Given that the definition of an ellipse is:
(x^2/a^2) + (y^2/b^2) = 1

Prove that area of the ellipse equals pi * a * b using calculus.

hey like forget you right now man

anyone that says it's 1 is STUPID!!

in PEMDAS, multiplication and division have equal priority--meaning whichever comes first left to right is done first

same rule applies to addition and subtraction
