There's two definitions of the word 'wound'
each with different pronunciations

There's "wound" as in an injury which is pronounced "woond"
And there's "wound" as in the past tense of "wind" which is pronounced "waund"

Oops, I thought hound and wound, I would actually say woond is how it would be pronounced

depends on the context. wound as in an injury is "woond," wound as a form of "wind" (as in, to wind something up, ie a mechanism) is "waund"

loving english.  Thank you.

"waund"

I don't really like that example though. Looks too easily confused with "wand". I think "wownd" is better.

yeah Agreed

loving english.  Thank you.
Even more confusing is the word "read"
The present tense is pronounced "reed" while the paste tense is "red"

I agree but for some reason I couldn't think of that

And then "reed" and "red" are also words by themselves.

whoops i voted for the first one but both are correct in different context
"I wownd the woond in gauze."

Isn't there a term for nouns that can be verbs depending on how you stress part of the word,

Like CONtract and conTRACT

heteronyms

I've already read a few red covered books, I'm about to read one about reeds.
